Marketplace Partner Statement Regarding Forge Transition
To our valued customers,
The Atlassian ecosystem is evolving and with it, the Marketplace apps you rely on every day. Behind the scenes, Atlassian is introducing a new platform called Forge, which will replace the current Connect platform by the end of 2026.
This shift brings exciting opportunities for the future of our apps, but also some short-term challenges we want to be transparent about. As longtime Marketplace Partners, we’re working hard to make this transition as smooth as possible for you.
What’s Changing and Why It Matters
Atlassian is investing heavily in the Forge platform to unlock deeper integrations, stronger security, and better performance for Marketplace apps. Many app developers, including us, are required to move from the old Connect platform to Forge.
While this change is largely invisible to you, it has big implications for how our apps are built and delivered – and how quickly we can ship new features. We want to make sure you’re aware of what’s happening and how we’re approaching it.
The Benefits
Stronger integrations: Forge offers new ways for us to build tighter, smarter integrations with Atlassian products which lays the foundation for more powerful app experiences in the future.
Built on Atlassian infrastructure: Apps can now run directly on Atlassian’s systems, earning the “Runs on Atlassian” badge and benefiting from improved data security and simplified compliance.
Faster innovation that lasts: Once we complete the transition, we’ll be able to build and release new features more quickly – taking full advantage of everything Forge enables.
The Challenges We’re Navigating
The transition takes time: Transitioning our apps to a new platform is a significant effort. In the short term, this may slow our ability to deliver new features before we’re able to kick off faster innovations again.
Feature differences: Some of the custom functionality we built on Connect may need to be adapted (or even reimagined) for Forge. At the same time, Forge offers new and exciting extensibility options.
New cost model: Forge introduces infrastructure costs for compute and storage. To manage this, we may need to adjust how resource-intensive features are delivered. That said, these changes also give us an opportunity to optimize performance.
Looking Ahead
We’re committed to delivering the best possible experience throughout this transition – without compromising on the quality you’ve come to expect from us.
We're incredibly grateful for your continued trust in our apps and proud of the role they play in helping your teams work efficiently. We see this transition not just as a requirement, but as an investment in the future of your experience with our products.
