Extension App Limitations
The External Data for Jira Fields — Extension is built using the Atlassian Forge framework, which includes the following limitations:

Non-Extension App Fields can’t be used as dependencies in Service Desk Portal Requests and Extension App Fields can only be used as dependencies when the fields are added via the Field Configuration and not as native fields in the Request form — https://ecosystem.atlassian.net/browse/FRGE-774

Anonymous Jira Service Management users, customer accounts, or accounts that have no Jira license can’t use Extension Fields in the Request Form.

External Data Extension fields are only supported on the new transition experience.
To activate it for your user, you need to go to ⚙️ Settings > 👤 General settings and turn on New work transition experience.
Extension Info Panel Limitations

Embedding external image sources is not supported in Extension Info Panels. This will change in the foreseeable future as soon as the Extension app is merged into the main app as part of our migration to Atlassian Forge.
