Snipe-IT Instance Rate Limit

Snipe-IT for Jira fetches assets and other data directly from your Snipe-IT instance using the Snipe-IT API, which sets a limit of the amount of requests it will process, which defaults to 120 requests per minute.

We have implemented numerous ways to reduce the amount of interactions with the Snipe-IT API, however there is no guarantee to not exceed the limit. Also, the app might send multiple requests to Snipe-IT for each request to our app.

When the rate limit is reached, these are the possible options to get around it:

• Wait for the rate limit to reset, which should not take more than one minute

• Disable “Show archived assets” in the Global Settings (disabled by default)

• When using the Snipe-IT cloud hosting: switch the cloud hosting plan to the next tier

  • Basic Hosting: 120 requests per minute¹

  • Small Business Hosting: 240 requests per minute¹

  • Dedicated Hosting: no particular limit¹

• When hosting Snipe-IT yourself: change the configuration to increase the requests per minute limit
