We’re making the hard decision to offer only limited support for Dynamic Custom Fields for Jira, beginning on Februar 1, 2027.
We currently have no capacity to fully migrate this app to Atlassian’s new app platform called Forge. See also our Statement Regarding Forge Transition, where we go into more details why this transition would cost us a lot of effort. Also, there is no migration path for existing dynamic custom fields and all custom fields would have to be recreated on Forge, leading to significant efforts for our customers, even if we would proceed with the transition.
The app will keep using Connect modules until they are no longer available by Atlassian. They have announced end of support by January 31, 2027 and our ability to support the app afterwards heavily depends on how Atlassian will keep Connect working after the end of support date. To quote from the Atlassian announcement:
When Connect becomes unsupported on January 31, 2027, Atlassian will only address critical security patches. Support SLAs will be relaxed, and Connect will no longer evolve alongside the Atlassian platform. Connect capabilities will also be subject to shorter deprecation windows and removed with significantly less notice.
We will notify customers as soon as we’re able once the Connect capabilities required by the app will no longer be available by Atlassian. Any unused license periods that have already been paid can be refunded upon request to our support once the app no longer functions. We’re unable to predict when that might happen as Atlassian has not published any timelines when Connect capabilities will be deactivated. We will let you know if this changes in the future.
We will also hide the app from the Atlassian Marketplace and no longer accept new Jira sites to install the app. For existing customers that want to stop using the app early because of its uncertain future, we recommend the following alternatives:
-
Formula Fields supported natively by Jira since December 2025, see also documentation
-
Use Jira Automation to populate custom fields when a work item changes
-
Use Comment Custom Fields for Jira if you need comment metadata as custom fields
-
Try out other apps supporting more powerful dynamic custom fields on the Atlassian Marketplace
Going forward, we will limit supporting the app in:
-
Providing security and maintenance updates
-
Keeping the app running as long as feasible on Atlassian’s Connect platform
-
Answering support requests for our existing customers
We’re sorry about the effort that the uncertain future of our app involves and hope that you find a suitable solution for your dynamic custom fields in the long term. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions regarding the limited support provided for this app.
