Getting Started

Welcome to External Data for Confluence! To ensure a smooth start, we will guide you through the most important steps so you can get started right away.

Quick Introduction

External Data for Confluence allows you to easily retrieve and display external data directly in Confluence, using different panel types. You can also set variables, query data from an external source, drill down or filter and visualize your data according to your requirements.

Before You Begin

The app can be accessed via the "Apps" top menu bar in your Confluence.

Please note that you need administrator rights to set up and configure the app. Before getting started, please make sure that you have the necessary permissions for your Confluence instance.

We also provide you with an example data set after installation, which serves as an excellent starting point for experimenting with the possibilities of the app. The sample data can also be added or removed manually later in the Settings tab.

Choosing The Right Panel Type

Our goal is to provide the right solution for your workflow. That's why External Data for Confluence comes with different panel types. Each of these panels offers unique advantages depending on your project and the type of data you're working with. Charts and tables for example are great for data representation, while templates help you streamline the creation of standardized documents.

For a detailed overview of each configuration type and assistance in selecting the appropriate type for your needs, please refer to the panel section of our documentation.
